Jack Frost mushrooms were first crossed and isolated by grower Dave Wombat, who bred Albino Penis Envy mushrooms with Wombat True Albino Teacher mushrooms. This strain is well-known for its potent effects caused by the primary active ingredient, psilocybin.
Jack Frost mushrooms have white or light blue caps that often appear frosty or crystalline – thus the “Frost” part of their name. The stems are white to bluish and sturdy, and the gills are typically white but turn darker as the spores mature.
The spores of Jack Frost measure 7 x 12 micrometers in size. This variety does not discharge spores during sporulation, although they can be swabbed to be observed under magnification. As spores germinate, clamp connections and fine feathered mycelium can be observed.
